Jofra Archer stars as Sussex CCC set up tense final session (From The Argus)

Jofra Archer played a huge role as Sussex started to scent a win over Gloucestershire at Hove.

The young paceman added two super catches at long leg to his two wickets as the visitors reached 117-6 at the final interval.

Archer took a stunning catch above his head long-leg, avoiding the ropes by inches, to dismiss Phil Mustard off the bowling of Chris Jordan.

Then, just before tea, he dived forward to catch George Hankins for 51, again off Jordan.

After losing a day-and-half to rain, Sussex moved events on quickly.

Gloucestershire declared at their overnight 150-1 and the hosts then motored along at almost eight an over to post 142-1, at which stage they too pulled out.

Harry Finch led them with 74 not out off just 59 balls.

That left Gloucestershire requiring 351 to win from 75 overs – and Sussex hot in pursuit of a fourth win in five games.

The visitors were 30-3 at lunch. Cameron Bancroft saw his bails flicked off by an Abi Sakande ball which nipped back.

Then Archer induced the thinnest of edges from Chris Dent before removing Gareth Roderick’s off stump.

Sakande angled a ball into Will Tavare and saw it pin him in front of leg stump to have Gloucestershire four down.

Chriss Jordan was rewarded for some hostile short-pitched stuff coming down the slope - thanks to those Archer catches.
